Helping Foster Youth Build Brighter Futures
Since 2017, Santa's Little Helpers, Inc. (SLHI) has been empowering foster youth and young adults impacted by the foster care system throughout Jefferson County, Kentucky. We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to providing the encouragement, resources, and life skills they need to build successful, independent futures.
Future Forward Program
Our signature Future Forward Program is a year-round initiative designed to support foster youth transitioning into adulthood. Participants receive monthly care packages filled with essential household items, food, hygiene products, educational resources, and encouragement to help reduce financial stress while they pursue higher education, vocational training, and workforce opportunities.
Beyond meeting basic needs, Future Forward equips participants with the tools they need for long-term success through monthly life skills workshops covering topics such as financial literacy, budgeting, cooking, nutrition, health and wellness, career readiness, housing, and other practical skills that prepare them for independent living. Every interaction is designed to build confidence, promote personal growth, and help young adults achieve their goals.
Pajamas for Christmas
The holidays can be especially difficult for children living in foster care. Through our Pajamas for Christmas program, we ensure that youth living in residential foster care facilities experience the joy, comfort, and hope of the season. With the generous support of our community, we provide Candy Cane Care Packages filled with brand-new pajamas, toys, books, and other thoughtful gifts that remind every child they are seen, valued, and loved.
Creating Lasting Impact
At SLHI, we know that changing a life requires more than meeting immediate needs—it requires consistent support, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to grow. Our mission is to empower foster youth and young adults with the resources, encouragement, and life skills they need to thrive during foster care and long after they leave the system.
Together with our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we are building brighter futures—one young person, one care package, and one opportunity at a time.
